Portobello Road, London’s prettiest place to shop for antiques

Notting Hill is famous for several things: Being the home to the “rich and famous” in London, for the movie with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts and for the Antique Market on Portobello Road and for the Notting Hill Carnival.

Portobello Road antique market was launched by Susan Garth, it was the first of its kind in London and you can still see the blue plaque on the wall. You can find anything and everything there if you like old maps, suitcases, “malles”, hats box, beautiful wooden trays, old tennis racket, pots and ladders then this place is your new hangout!

Notting Hill is a really pretty part of the city with colourful houses, quiet streets, little cafes and arty shops, bars and restaurants. If you like cooking they also have a nice place called Recipes where they propose great cooking lessons about 2 hours long to learn how to cook, one dish at a time. I’ve tried the sushi lesson with a friend of mine and we had a great time. £45 each, 1 free beverage and the best thing, you get to eat the delicious meal you’ve just learned to prepare! The perfect night out!
