Haïti here I come!!!

In 42 days I’ll be in Haïti, my birth country. Can’t believe I haven’t been there for 21 years!

This is going to be my first trip to my home country and i am sooo excited I can barely handle the wait. I am going in April for 2 weeks with a small french association called Desir d’Haiti who organise 2 trips a year for their members. The goal of my trip is to reconnect with my birth country, discover the truth about this country which has been suffering from natural disasters, a corrupted government and a terrible image in the media. I will finally have a chance to make my own opinion about my own country.

For 2 weeks I am going to explore the south of the island, meet the locals, sleep in their homes, see how farmers work, visit schools, talk to woman and learn how they manage to feed their families day after day with only a couple of dollars. I will take notes on everything beautiful and positive in this country so I can show people the amazing potential of my little island in the sun.

I have a month to get ready for this trip so before I go I want to be able to speak a little bit of Creole so I can get more from my cutural experience. I aim to improve my photography skills so I can blow peoples minds with my photos. Finally I want to learn how to paint with watercolors so I can capture the everyday life of the Haitian in my own hopefully artistic way.

The challenge is set, wish me luck!
